Across the world, there is a void of trained leaders. This shortage of qualified leaders has become a real problem for cities, nations, and especially the Church. In most all of our nations, many young people are making decisions to become followers of Christ, to be discipled, and to join local churches. However, there are not enough leaders to disciple the new believers or lead local churches.

The world needs more needs more equipped workers and leaders who are empowered to reach the young people of this world. But we don't need just any leader. We have far too many examples of bad leaders. No, what we need are committed and equipped leaders who lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement.

Youth for Christ (YFC) is committed to build up a generation of leaders who do just that-lead by their godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, passion for sharing the love of Christ and commitment to social involvement. We have developed a Model for Leadership-based on scripture-that serves as a guide for our leadership development efforts. YFC's Model for Leadership focuses on: Character, Leadership, Evangelism, and Kingdom Seeking.

Leadership development within YFC is achieved through coordinated local, national, regional, area (for example, Asia Pacific) and international effort-all working together toward the same vision: As part of the Body of Christ, to see that every young person in every people group in every nation has the opportunity to make an informed decision to be a follower of Jesus Christ and become part of a local church.

Across the Asia Pacific area, YFC is in the middle of a forward looking, five-year leadership development initiative called IGNITE. The overall goal of IGNITE is to enable effective leadership development across the Asia Pacific Area through a combination of local, national, regional, area, and international contexts so that our staff and volunteers are equipped, empowered, encouraged, and challenged to reach more young people for Christ.

IGNITE is an Asia Pacific Area office initiative that compliments and expands upon the significant amount of local leadership development efforts already occurring within our local YFC nations. It has as its foundation YFC's Model for Leadership based upon scripture, and is consistent with and extends upon YFC International's leadership development efforts.

The five-year cost of IGNITE is projected to be US$467,567. Funding for IGNITE is being sought from interested individuals, churches, organizations, and foundations.
