YFC New Zealand

The face of YFCI in New Zealand is Incedo, pronounced "in-see-dough". YFC meetings started in New Zealand in 1946. But, in 2005, after a few years of dialogue, reflection, and research, we decided to start again as a missional community. More information on this process is found at www.incedo.org.nz.

The members of Incedo live and work under our purpose:- “We are committed followers of Jesus, inviting all young people to join our faith adventure.” To help us live out our purpose, we seek daily to put into practice 6 values:- Jesus Centered, Mission Through Service, People Focused, Priesthood Of All Believers, Generosity, Creativity.

Our mission activities express the purpose and values of Incedo and reflect the combination of our own passions, personalities and callings with the needs of our local communities. So Incedo activity will look different from place to place. And some of the time we just hang out trying to be useful.

Surge: Our annual "flagship" event is a whole weekend of service, fun, and worship. It's our chance to get our "hands dirty" serving a local community.

Stations of the Cross: an art installation held at Hamilton Gardens each year, leading up to Easter. www.stations.org.nz

Rock Solid: incorporating neighbourhood clubs, camps, events, and small group activities primarily for Intermediate age young people

Camps Road trips, junior high school holiday camps, summer camps www.summerharvest.co.nz

Project Serve: Incedo is committed to developing long-term relationships by serving local communities in New Zealand and in Asia-Pacific

Y-ONE: a one year, performing arts mission team working in the junior high schools and local communities of New Zealand and the Pacific.

The Journey: working with troubled young people in high school and taking them on a multi-week journey of self-discovery using outdoor adventure activities.

Korean Mission: seeking, in culturally appropriate ways, to invite Korean young people to join us in our adventure of faith through clubs in Auckland high schools and multi-media concerts, concerts for visiting performers, seminars for parents and youth leaders, high school Youth Vision conference, an inter-school basketball competition and an Arts Festival. The YFCNZ Korean website is www.yfcnz.com.

History: The British colony of New Zealand became an independent dominion in 1907 and supported the UK militarily in both World Wars. New Zealand withdrew from a number of defense alliances during the 1970s and 1980s. In recent years the government has sought to address longstanding native Maori grievances.
